Garrapatas y Pulgas podemos ganar la batalla

Principio de Primavera se inicia la temporada en donde tenemos que proteger a nuestras mascotas de las garrapatas y pulgas ya que pueden ocasionar múltiples problemas para la salud de nuestros peludos compañeros.

En Animals Health publicaron un artículo muy interesante informando que la desparasitación es especialmente importante en esta época del año, pues según recoge el Consejo Científico Europeo de Parásitos en animales de Compañía (ESCCAP), las pulgas comienzan a multiplicarse en el entorno en la temporada de primavera a otoño, mientras que las garrapatas son más prevalentes en primavera y verano.

Asimismo, desde el ESCAPP recuerdan que existen enfermedades compartidas por humanos y animales de las que las pulgas y garrapatas son vectores, como la borreliosis, la rickettsiosis, la bartonelosis, la enfermedad de Lyme o la fiebre hemorrágica de Crimea-Congo, una enfermedad emergente mortal, por lo que la prevención es clave para proteger la salud humana y animal.

En el caso de las garrapatas, el ESCAPP matiza que no hay un riesgo directo con las que están prendidas a un perro o gato pero deben extraerse manualmente y destruirse cuidadosamente.

Esto es importante para asegurar que los humanos no estén expuestos a cualquier fluido de la garrapata con un potencial contenido de patógenos, y evita además que las garrapatas no puedan encontrar posteriormente un hospedador humano.

En cuanto a las pulgas, estas pasan fácilmente de animales a humanos, por lo que cualquier tipo de infestación por pulgas en las casas, especialmente donde hay niños pequeños, existe un riesgo zoonótico. “Es importante erradicar las infestaciones por pulgas simplemente por razones de salud pública”, señalan.

Algunas de las alternativas para tratar, proteger y erradicar de nuestras mascotas estos ectoparásitos son los collares antipulgas, garrapatas y mosquito (seresto) Bayer su duración es de 8 meses, scalibur 1 año son los más efectivos del mercado Español o pipetas mensuales (que son líquidos que se colocan en la parte posterior del cuello en línea recta hasta la cola) recomiendo Virbac, Advantix o Beaphar y en caso de vivir cerca de un bosque o campo recomendaría pastilla interna por lo regular duran 3 meses llamada Bravecto, de todos modos este tipo de pastillas como se compra directamente en el Veterinario ya que es de uso obligatorio con receta veterinaria preguntar si realmente aplica para tu mascota.

Ticks and Fleas Problem to be solved beginning of winter until autumn

In animals health they published a very interesting article informing that deworming is especially important at this time of year, since according to the European Scientific Council for Parasites in Companion Animals (ESCCAP), fleas begin to multiply in the environment in the season of spring to fall, while ticks are most prevalent in spring and summer.

Some of the alternatives to treat, protect and eradicate these ectoparasites from our pets are flea collars, ticks and mosquitoes (beings) Bayer, scalibur are the most effective on the Spanish market or pipettes (which are liquids that are placed on the back of the neck in a straight line to the tail) I recommend Virbac, Advantix or Beaphar and in case of living near a forest or field I would recommend an internal pill that usually lasts 3 months called Bravecto, anyway this type of pills as you buy directly in the Veterinarian, since it is mandatory to use a veterinary prescription, ask if it really applies to your pet.
